Evening Snowshoe Events

February/March Update:

Come on out and enjoy an evening snowshoe at Valley Spur. The snowshoe group continues to meet every Tuesday, 5:15 at the lodge. The days are getting a bit longer now so we’ve been managing to get back to the lodge without using our headlamps!

Last Tuesday, December 11th we had 9 people show up, we broke up into 2 groups, as we were not all at the same level of trekking through the woods. We all enjoyed the evening immensely.

Tuesday December 18th we plan to meet again at 5:15 pm. We will have the Lodge open before and after for warm ups. Good advice would be to leave the big winter jackets behind, one should be chilled at the beginning to avoid overheating during the cardio phase. The course is challenging at times, and it helps to have crampon style (teeth on bottom) snowshoes, however, there were traditional wooden snowshoe wearers last Tuesday, and although the struggled on some of the steep ups and downs, they managed to hang in there. There are several options to head back to the lodge, as the course crosses B once and C several times. Anyone thinking of taking part in the Snowman biathlon might be interested in seeing the new snowshoe portion of the event. It's very pretty through those valleys.

We plan to meet every Tuesday evening at 5:15pm, with the exception of Christmas Day, December 25th. Come join us!
